Pre-Teen Boy Magic Slider Birthday

Happy Winter!

My grandson is turning 12 this year.  Boys' cards are difficult for me and since he's older, I didn't think a cutesy card would do. I did a pinterest search for "teen boy handmade card" and was reminded of the SU! stamp set I used here. Perfect!

My step-daughter recently bought the interactive Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider dies for my birthday so I thought this would be the perfect time to try using them. I watched a Lawn Fawn YouTube video on how to create the interactive element and then I was off to creating. Their videos are so detailed and well made. I love them!

Since the images need to be stamped twice in the same orientation, I put the two stamps, headphones and sneakers, in my MISTI on opposite sides. I cut a piece of acetate and a piece of white cardstock to the same size and stamped the earphone image on both pieces. I masked the earphones, flipped the MISTI and stamped the sneakers on both pieces. I then masked the sneakers on the white piece and ink-blended the background. I colored the images with SU! Blender Pen and SU! inks. I had to do some stamp masking to separate "You're" from "AWESOME" on the white piece.

I think it turned out pretty neat.  I didn't get the two images in EXACTLY the same location of both the acetate and white piece so when the separator is open, there's a bit of a double outline. A single image, rather than two, would have prevented that but it's all good. All the masking was fun to figure out. I don't mask things very often. The interactive element was so very easy.

I hope you like the card and thanks for popping by.

Pop-up Mice Birthday

Welcome back!  My granddaughter's 7th birthday is coming up so it's time to try another interactive card.  I decided to use my Lawn Fawn pop-up platform dies for the first time and some of their mouse stamps.  Last year I made her a card with mice so this continues that theme a little and the mice are so very super cute.  I love how so many of the Lawn Fawn mouse sets are the same size and you can mix-n-match them! CASE'd  Birthday Mouse Party  for the general scene idea.  For the mouse flying over on a paper airplane, I attached it to a tiny strip of acetate.  The platform itself was pretty easy to assemble but I could have done better getting the most use out of the cardstock. I think I got a bit over zealous with the mice and extras and made the card too busy but it's still cute! Thanks for poppin' by. Northwoods Summer Thank You's

I needed a few Thank You cards on hand for our neighbors here in the Wisconsin Northwoods.  I've used this Thanks die with its shadow on a lot of cards now.  I really like the way it fits on an A2 card, whether landscape or portrait. I looked through my pattern paper and ephemera stash for summer and woodsy things.  These are what I came up with.  Some ephemera still needed to be colored and I'm loving those sunflowers from Gina K Designs!  I'll have to use those again. Spring May Flowers

Not a card or paper .... Happy Spring & May Day! My family has the tradition of making and distributing baskets of candy to the neighbors for May Day.  While I'm not making the candy baskets this year, I offered to make Spring decorations for the neighborhood sign posts. I found a great wooden cutout company, Woodpeckers Crafts , that delivered 20 flowers, 10 tulips & 10 daisies, within a few days.  I used my existing outdoor acrylic paints, masking tape and wipees to quickly paint the flowers as colorful Tulips and Gerbera Daisies.  I used a drill press to drill a hole in the tops of the flowers for a metal ring and covered the flowers with Outdoor Mod Podge to protect the wood and paint from the weather. This was a lot of fun, didn't take too long and was a nice break from my normal handmade card crafts.  My next painting project will be cutouts for the 4th of July.   Thanks for poppin' by! The end product.  Painted, shellacked and ready to h...
