Blogging Once Again - Acorny Thanksgiving

Hello again.

It's been quite some time since I've created a post here without backdating it, hee hee.  I thought I'd try to get back to it.  I've not posted much ever because I don't think anyone reads it but at least I have this place to capture my thoughts and activities.

My husband, dog and I are settling into our new home in Northwoods Wisconsin.  It has taken so very much longer than I ever imagined to unpack, sort, fix things up and make them work for us.  We're getting closer but there's still a lot to do.  I'm trying to squeeze creating and crafting in between house stuff and my full time job.  I'm very blessed to be able to work from home so no complaints there.  No more 40 min commute each way, every day.  Yay!

I've continued crafting, just not blogging about it.  For my creative outlet, I've been primarily making handmade greeting cards.  My stash of stamps and dies and designer pattern paper has continued to grow.  😊 Since I no longer participate in card classes with my friends and another friend is no longer making card kits for me to assemble, I needed to find another source of inspiration and joined the splitcoaststamper group splitcoaststampers.com .  I'm really enjoying it so far and I've been sending out even more cards then I ever used to, so I need to get creating if I plan to keep a stash of cards at the ready.  😀😂 In addition, I'm getting quite the backlog of unmade Stampin Up Paper Pumpkin kits that I need to assemble.  I realize paper pumpkin is not much of a creative outlet since I usually follow the instructions but sometimes I just need to make things ... like the card classes and kits I used to do with friends.

I have started making amigurumi crochet plushies using The Woobles kits.  I love those things!  I'm slow at crocheting and I need to devote a lot of attention to the project I'm working on, so I can't really do it while watching TV or listening to audiobooks.  I imagine as I get more used to making them and doing the different stitches and techniques, I'll be able to do other things at the same time ... maybe ... hopefully.  🤞

I also have signed up for online classes in Rosemaling (Norwegian painting).  I bought some supplies that the instructor recommended but I still have to set aside the time to watch the class videos, follow along and practice.  I'll get there.

Onto the project ...

So here's my latest card I've created.  I needed cards for my family and friends for Thanksgiving this year ... I totally missed Halloween cards this year 😥.  I've been trying to work through saved unused sketches from Freshly Made Sketches (FMS).  For this card, I looked at the Thanksgiving cards I pinned years ago and decided to use this one Acorny Gratitude as inspiration.  I CASEd* it and combined it with #FMS359 and Splitcoaststampers color challenge #CC1022.  I used an embossing folder for texture in the background. I think it gave the card a warm fall coziness.  I think it turned out quite nice and it didn't take all that much time to make all 16.  Yay!

I hope you enjoy this card and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Magical Unicorn See-Thru Shaker

Here's another cute card for one of my "littles" ... My grandniece turned 2 this year.  I wanted to make her a card with a simple interactive element and shaker cards are the best for that, in my humble opinion ... nothing to move that could tear up the card. 😂  I also wanted to stretch my crafting skills a bit and step it up from normal shaker cards so I decided on making a see-thru shaker.  With that decided, I went to my handy dandy stash of saved and unused Freshly Made Sketches designs and picked #FMS358 .  Next, I looked through the splitcoaststampers.com past color challenges for a "girly" color combo and chose #CC1004 .  Lastly, I looked through my Big Book of Stamps and found the rarely used SSS Magical Birthday set ... I actually think I used this stamp set to dress up the brown wrapping paper on her present last year, hmmm, theme? BTW , my handmade card related hobbies are BUYING stamps and dies, ORGANIZING stamps and dies and USING stamps and dies....

Cheerful Gingy Birthday

Good evening!  I'm so glad you've visited.      My younger sister and I have a common love of gingerbread girls and boys.  I have often commented to her how I wish you'd see them year-round representing more holidays and seasons.  With that though in mind immediately after the Christmas season, I decided to make my sister a non-Christmas gingerbread card.  I started with the  Freshly Made Sketches  design #FMS364 and went from there.  I chose the colors based on the SU! DSP Cherry On Top, concentrating on the red color since red is my sister's favorite color.  In addition to what you can see in the photo, the gingy girl's body swings from side to side, as if dancing, AND there's a confetti flinger inside!     I had so much fun making this cheerful birthday card.  I hope you enjoyed it too.
