Bicycling Fun

At my previous house, I did NOT have a very good system of storing ephemera and embellishments and washi tape, so I seldom used them, I just forgot I had them.  I had just been working on sorting and organizing my craft room after our recent move, when my husband asked if I would make a funny get well card for his friend who recently wiped out on a bicycle.

While looking for bicycle stamps and dies, I realized there was an adorable bicycle stamp set where I hadn't used all the stamps.  Some ideas came to mind for cards with this partially used stamp set and the recently discovered washi tape, ephemera and card bases.  This card was one of the results.  I still haven't used all the stamps in the set because I ran out of room on the card.  😂

I followed a saved design from Freshly Made Sketches, #FMS353.  I posted this card in the splitcoaststampers gallery and it was selected as a splitcoaststamper Weekly Favorite on April 7, 2024.  I am so happy others liked it.  I feel so honored to be selected.  😁

I hope you enjoy this card with old products as well.

Pop-up Mice Birthday

Welcome back!  My granddaughter's 7th birthday is coming up so it's time to try another interactive card.  I decided to use my Lawn Fawn pop-up platform dies for the first time and some of their mouse stamps.  Last year I made her a card with mice so this continues that theme a little and the mice are so very super cute.  I love how so many of the Lawn Fawn mouse sets are the same size and you can mix-n-match them! CASE'd  Birthday Mouse Party  for the general scene idea.  For the mouse flying over on a paper airplane, I attached it to a tiny strip of acetate.  The platform itself was pretty easy to assemble but I could have done better getting the most use out of the cardstock. I think I got a bit over zealous with the mice and extras and made the card too busy but it's still cute! Thanks for poppin' by. Spring May Flowers

Not a card or paper .... Happy Spring & May Day! My family has the tradition of making and distributing baskets of candy to the neighbors for May Day.  While I'm not making the candy baskets this year, I offered to make Spring decorations for the neighborhood sign posts. I found a great wooden cutout company, Woodpeckers Crafts , that delivered 20 flowers, 10 tulips & 10 daisies, within a few days.  I used my existing outdoor acrylic paints, masking tape and wipees to quickly paint the flowers as colorful Tulips and Gerbera Daisies.  I used a drill press to drill a hole in the tops of the flowers for a metal ring and covered the flowers with Outdoor Mod Podge to protect the wood and paint from the weather. This was a lot of fun, didn't take too long and was a nice break from my normal handmade card crafts.  My next painting project will be cutouts for the 4th of July.   Thanks for poppin' by! The end product.  Painted, shellacked and ready to h...

Magical Unicorn See-Thru Shaker

Here's another cute card for one of my "littles" ... My grandniece turned 2 this year.  I wanted to make her a card with a simple interactive element and shaker cards are the best for that, in my humble opinion ... nothing to move that could tear up the card. 😂  I also wanted to stretch my crafting skills a bit and step it up from normal shaker cards so I decided on making a see-thru shaker.  With that decided, I went to my handy dandy stash of saved and unused Freshly Made Sketches designs and picked #FMS358 .  Next, I looked through the splitcoaststampers.com past color challenges for a "girly" color combo and chose #CC1004 .  Lastly, I looked through my Big Book of Stamps and found the rarely used SSS Magical Birthday set ... I actually think I used this stamp set to dress up the brown wrapping paper on her present last year, hmmm, theme? BTW , my handmade card related hobbies are BUYING stamps and dies, ORGANIZING stamps and dies and USING stamps and dies....
